BUZZ DMC, a destination management company, sought to differentiate itself in the crowded Portuguese tourism market. With services spanning from Lisbon to the Azores, and even reaching into Spain, BUZZ DMC aspired to a new brand identity that would truly stand out.

The goal was to create a distinctive positioning that highlighted BUZZ DMC’s unparalleled local expertise and their uniquely informal yet professional approach – attributes highly valued by partners and clients alike.

In a market saturated with stunning lifestyle images of Portugal, the task was to break free from the visual norm. The challenge lay in crafting a brand identity that would captivate audiences without relying on the typical, albeit beautiful, tourist imagery.

We developed a branding and communication system centred on bespoke paper-cut illustrations. These featured friendly characters in typical Portuguese settings, showcasing the nation’s culture, nature, and heritage. This approach aimed to forge an emotional connection with audiences through charming, unique visuals.

The outcome was a brand with unparalleled distinctiveness in the tourism industry. BUZZ DMC now boasts a highly memorable and globally recognisable identity, setting a new standard in destination branding.

DELIVERABLES

The project yielded a comprehensive branding system based on custom illustrations, including 12 paper-cut designs, a communication strategy, website, commercial literature, exhibition stand, and branded gifts. This cohesive system now defines BUZZ DMC’s visual presence across all touchpoints.
